Hope Africa Ministries

Pastor Henry Onsongo (pictured with Pastor John Speight of Christ Church), a native Kenyan, is the leader and co-founder of Hope Africa Ministries. The ministry was formed out of his desire to further the kingdom of God through church fellowship, quality Christian education and different community ministries. He is a former primary school teacher, evangelist and currently is a businessman and preacher. He lives in Nairobi, Kenya.

Roberta Peterson is a co-founder of Hope Africa Ministries. She has been involved with mission and ministry in Kenya for almost three years. Roberta is a former early education teacher and social worker. Currently she shares her time between her home in North Carolina and Kenya.

Pastor Robert Magako is the founder of Hope Educational Centre in Sakwa, Kenya and pastor of a small church nearby. He was born and raised in this rural area and has a love for his community and desire to help through providing quality Christian and health education and meeting the needs of his community.

Cheryl Cranston is an educator, conference speaker and does guest preaching. Through an invitation to preach in Kenya by Roberta -- long-time friend -- and Pastor Henry, Cheryl not only preached in various churches, but became a friend and supporter of Hope Africa Ministries. She lives in Portland, Oregon and plans to return to Kenya often to preach and help in all areas of the ministry.

Christ Church from Fairfax Station, Virginia heard about some of the needs of the people in Kenya when Roberta--a long-time friend of Pastor John Speight--brought Pastor Henry to visit the church in February, 2007. Some church members immediately felt compassion and a calling to go and help. They formed a team of 14 and went to minister in Kenya in late 2007. They have formed an on-going relationship with Hope Africa Ministries and are supporting them from the states as well as planning return trips to provide hands-on assistance.
