gifts of clean water and toilets
Thanks to the generosity of Christ Church, Fairfax Station, Virginia, $3000.00 was raised and sent to Hope Africa Ministries to build new toilets and a clean-water collection and storage system for Hope Educational Centre in Sakwa, Kenya.
The toilet facility will contain four separate rooms with trenches, cement floors with hole, brick walls, wood doors, and iron sheet roof. The toilets replace a reed and grass structure that was in great disrepair.
The clean water system will collect the rainwater from the iron sheet roof of the classrooms into gutters that will lead to pipes that will then carry the water to a 5,000 gallon storage tank. This tank will sit on a wooden platform and have a tap to run the water. The water collection system will bring, for the first time, a source of clean water for drinking, hand washing and food preparation to the school.
Both of these additions will greatly improve the sanitation and hygiene for the students and staff at this school. Asante sana/thank you Christ Church for providing for and blessing the students and staff at Hope Educational Centre.
