If you have taken the time to browse this website and read the accounts of those who have been called to minister to the "least and the lost" in Kenya, you know that there is a passion and purpose that God has instilled in Roberta, Cheryl, Pastor Henry, Pastor Robert and the leaders of Christ Church. In partnership with Hope Africa Ministries, Christ Church is committed to a long term mission presence in Kenya, with the primary focus being the support and growth of Hope Educational Centre.
Christ Church first travelled to Kenya in November of 2007 to explore a number of different ministry opportunities and to discern if and where God was calling our church to serve. Upon our return, the exploratory mission team sought to partner with Hope Educational Centre in Sakwa, Kenya with the goal of serving both the students and families of this school.
In February of 2009, a small team went back to Kenya for the specific purpose of making arrangements and decisions about the next steps in our Kenyan Ministry. The group met with a number of area leaders and government officials to ask their opinion as to the priorities and needs concerning Hope Educational Centre. While there is a need for a permanent home for the school, educational materials, teacher recruitment and support, and many other areas - their unanimous position was that they needed medical help first and foremost.
In November of 2009, a team of 24 men and women from Christ Church conducted a 3 day medical and dental camp for the people of Sakwa and nearby communities. Approximately 3,000 people were served and many miracles were witnessed - physically, emotionally and spiritually - on the parts of both Kenyans and Americans.
The need is so great and constantly ongoing. Plans are therefore underway to return for a second medical camp in November of 2010. We need medical and non-medical volunteers to make it a success.
